Episode Notes

Girls' flag football is now an official PIAA-sanctioned high school sport in Pennsylvania as of 2024, with official competition in the 2025-26 school year. Parkland has a team that is playing games this spring and will be sanctioning the sport officially in the 2026-27 year.   Following rapid growth led by the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, over 100 teams already exist statewide, with high schools in districts across the state forming teams.

Special Olympics Unified Sports® is an inclusive program combining teams of people with intellectual disabilities (Unified athletes) and without disabilities (Unified partners) to train and compete together.  Learn more about Unified Bocce Ball here: Unified Bocce Ball in Pennsylvania: https://specialolympicspa.org/ius-bocce
